About Home-Start Edinburgh: 

Founded in 1986, Home-Start Edinburgh has been providing friendly and vital support to parents and guardians with young children (up to the age of 5) at home. 

A volunteer focused organisation we work tirelessly to recruit and train passionate and dedicated volunteers to provide the best support for our families, while also providing a nurturing environment to develop new skills and experiences. 

Additionally, as part of its on-going programme, HSE runs regular parent/guardian and children's groups, arranging social events for referred families.

Home-Start volunteers visit families once a week for a couple of hours in their own homes, supporting parents and guardians in situations as diverse as isolation, bereavement, multiple births, illness, disability or who are just finding parenting a struggle. They provide non-judgemental practical and emotional support and help build the family’s confidence and ability to cope.
